That's a Texas winter right there my dear friends. It will stay pretty mild here for most of the winter, with a few days really cold and a few days unseasonably warm. This is the view from my kitchen window where I spent part of the afternoon making oatmeal cookies for my book club that came over last night. Sorry I don't have a fancy recipe for you. I used the recipe from the Quaker Oats box and it was just perfect. It's the simple things that are the most rewarding.

These cute little guys are my vintage Santa and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper shakers set. They were given to me from my
Mema. They sit there and watch over me as I attempt to create our own holiday traditions.

Book club. A good evening with great friends. Using books as an excuse to get together.
Shhhh... don't tell anyone our little secret. Sharing hopes and dreams. Using this night as a recluse. To reinvigorate and
rejuvenate the soul. To discuss world issues and solve them from our perch. We are reading
The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards if anyone wants to read along with us.

Oatmeal cookies!??! Yesssssssss
I see some yarn, whatchu doin'?!
I love the view out your kitchen window - I could look at that all day long. Our weather is back to mild as well - in the 70's after a weekend of cold and rainy. Hope the book club meeting was fun!
Oh yes, I can't count the number of Christmases we spent in shorts...gotta love TX! And your christmas cards below are adorable!!!
Me too! I took that recipe and modified it a TINY bit, it's my husbands favorite cookie. Just last night he begged for it.
I so desperately want a book club!
I love the little vintage Santas.
What do you think of this book so far, I was thinking about picking it up. Our online book club starts a new book for Dec/Jan if you want to join.
That is my favorite oatmeal recipe - I'm pretty sure I have Quaker top in my recipe drawer now!
ahhhhh yes, I feel the breeze! I guess we have the similar weather, but you definitely win the scenery!
yummy oatmeal cookies!
Oso - Crocheting the only thing I know how to do. Back and forth, back and forth. A scarf. It's my staple gift really.
Yes, that first picture is great! I love the window silhouette.
And that is the same oatmeal recipe that I use (passed down by my mama.) Why reinvent the wheel?
That is one of the best oatmeal recipes around.
And the weather is ok...just wish it was 10 degrees cooler. If I wanted Christmas in summer, I could move to Australia.
I love cookies...Mmmmm....
