a flurry of activity

A flurry of activity in anticipation for Makena's 3rd birthday party tomorrow. Trying to get everything done this evening so I can relax and enjoy my baby girl's big day tomorrow. I've been busy baking and crafting (oh yes, I'm getting this crafting thing down my friends.)

My good friend (and very patient) Sarah taught me how to make a table runner. Sarah, are you proud??? I made this during the kid's nap time today. I used some old curtains and bright fabrics to create this runner. Then I added some little birdies at each end to anchor the runner.

I was overly ambitious and decided to use some Martha Stewart recipes for the cupcakes, icing, gingerbread men and their icing. Once again, I need to learn to read directions BEFORE I begin an endeavor. Notice all the dough stuck to the counter top. How much flour does this take? It's all coming out well, but has been a full day's work. Learning as I go. Baby steps.

And during my down time, while gingerbread men and cupcakes were baking I stitched up some little birdies for Makena's tree.

Wish me luck tomorrow as I attempt to host an incredible amount of people at our house. Do a little rain dance for me to keep the rain away so we can all go outside!
