ballerina bag

I recently picked up a copy of Celine Dupuy's book Simple Sewing with a French Twist. She frequently contributes to Marie Claire and I'm a huge fan of French design so I just had to get it. The book has lots of great ideas and I decided to start with a ballerina bag.

This week Makena begins dance classes. The shoes and leotard have been purchased, all that was missing was a bag. Every girl needs a great bag. In due time she will learn this! I ordered my fabrics online, some for this bag and some for other projects. Green, green and more green!

The bag came together really quick. It's a very simple tote bag and I'm even thinking of making more to use for shopping instead of the plastic bags. I used a fun Japanese fabric depicting some of the fairy tales. The pattern had one typo though that threw me for a loop for a good 30 minutes. Does this happen often? Friends, you know I'm new to this sewing thing. I corrected the pattern and was on my way.

A brand new ballerina bag for my little ballerina.

I have been looking at buying the same book, there is a comment on Amazon that I read saying some of the patterns have glitches. But not insurmountable as you proved! Great fabric too!
